(Malin+Goetz) - Williamsburg

(MALIN+GOETZ) is a New York-based skincare and perfume line that creates modern, unisex products for hair, body and skin. Their existing retail stores reflect a modernization of traditional neighborhood apothecary concepts in typically clean and simple environments.

For a new store in Williamsburg Brooklyn we spanned the space with a space-frame that creates three zones within the compact space: a front street-facing display area, a center “room” for products, and a rear strip of space containing a retrofitted vintage washbasin for testing. Recalling the minimal sculpture of Sol LeWitt as well as the local bridge infrastructure, the form of the millwork is both functional and evocative of the nearby context.

Lighting design, by Flux, is conceived of as simple, directional, and minimal lines that strengthen the zones of space as defined by the spanning frame.
